Clientele

Market / Customer
Sustainable Building Experts target customer markets are facilities managers of city and county entities that are being funded by federal or state dollars.  This includes:
  • Cities
  • Universities
  • Schools
  • Public Transit (Light Rail)
  • Mountain Ski Resorts
  • Residential

  1. Cities:
    • City facility managers will be interested in products such as rubber side walk over problem areas such as tree roots or areas of high vibrations (light rail).  In these areas they may be looking at replacing sidewalk every 2 to 5 years which is very costly and aesthetically unpleasing.  By providing them an alternate of a sustainable product turn key it alleviates much of their management and cost of the problem area with a breakeven point of the 2nd concrete replacement.
  2. Universities & Schools:
    • These are facilities that will have the purchasing power for projects from a few hundred thousand to multi-millions.  We will want to target the specific spec sections of construction that have a hold on the market, for example concrete sidewalks.  We would propose entering the market with a rubber sidewalk in lieu of the concrete.  Initially it may be more costly but it has a longer life expectancy, maintains a high quality appearance over time and gives flexibility in architectural design for a price competitive to stamped concrete.
  3. Public Transit (Light Rail):
    • We would look to utilize the product in lieu of tactile warning strip which is a very hard plastic product used to notify blind pedestrians where to stop and wait for the train, while providing a sustainable recycled product which not only keeps tires out of the landfill but also supplies a product to compete with a monopoly.
  4. Mountain Ski Resorts
    • Mountain ski resorts often have issues with freeze/thaw cycles due to the high elevation and associated cold temperatures causing damage to concrete.  Rubber would be a superior alternative that is durable in temperature changes and has the ability to provide a slip resistant surface.  Another nice feature is an architectural finish may be applied to show the resort's emblem or insignia.  Lastly, if any of the tiles receive damage, simply remove and replace that tile without closing a sidewalk or area of travel as required for concrete repair.
  5. Residential:
    • Niche residential and high end homes may look to utilize rubber in lieu of stamped concrete patios or in lieu of concrete drive ways.

Target Market & Growth Plan
In order to appeal to the target market listed above we first need to identify who will be the buyers in this type of market.
  • Building Architects / Landscape Architects – By getting in touch with architects we have the opportunity to present our products through lunch & learns with the end goal of having our product specified for the project eliminating our competition and increasing our profit margins.  How do we identify the right individuals to pursue in the architecture community?  By utilizing search programs such as “Reed Construction Data” we can keep a pulse on the influx of projects that architects are competing for in the Colorado area.  The program does give us the ability to search in other states for an added fee.  Once we have identified the client we want to pursue we need to bring product data altered specifically for the use on their project in hopes of being specified “sole source”.

  • General Contractors – Any projects that slip through the cracks, that we cannot head off at the architecture level, will be awarded to general contractors who will then bid out the spec sections of the products we wish to supply.  Its not possible to get to all the architects so we need to make a market push into the large general contractors that we have had previous relationships with first, then work our way onto the second tier GC’s in order to gain a level of trust with them to help them meet LEED certifications and also let them know that we can be low maintenance high quality subcontractors that perform excellent workmanship.

  • City & Government agencies – Lastly we need to pursue large owners that will be in the construction market for the long term.  Not so much developers but more the city entities is where we can push to make an initial impact through utilizing rubber side walks.  This approach can be made through the head of inspectors as well as planning & zoning.  These officials, once educated on our products can make recommendations on future projects, however initially it will have to come from the contract documents or architects.
